Mrs. Deborah Lamberton Smith, 68, of Durham, North Carolina, was born August 28, 1956 to the late James and Viola Lambertson of Potecasi, North Carolina. She departed this earthly life on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at her home.
Deborah joined Second Baptist Potecasi Church at an early age. She attended Woodland Graded School and on to Northampton County High School. While attending Northampton she participated in different organizations and sports. Upon receiving her diploma in 1974 she then matriculated to North Carolina Central University, Durham, North Carolina. While at Central she joined a HBCU sorority (Swing Phi Swing Inc)., whereby she said she had sisters for life. Also while at Central she met and married the love of her life, Christopher Smith. They were happily married for thirty-three years until his death.
They were blessed with one son, Trevor. Together, they decided to join North East Baptist Church in Durham, North Carolina.
Deborah was employed at the following establishments: Durham High School, Nortel Networks, Selectron (for 22 years), IBM, Biogen, Cree, and Part Time at Durham Tech. Community College.
Deb loved her Eagles, her Swing Phi Swing Sisters, and UNC. She loved her family immensely and enjoyed spending time with them. She also loved to shop, eat out, go to plays and concerts, and traveling.
Although she faced challenges with her health she always believed in God and His healing powers.
Debbie was preceded in death by her husband, Chris, her parents, James and Viola Lambertson, her brother, James Allen Lambertson. She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Trevor Lambertson (Lashonda), a Neice, Tristen, two Grandsons, Kalen and Jamire, One Uncle, Lee Vernon Manley (Oneithia), four Aunts, Rev. Dr. Dorothy M. Joyner (Raymond), Catherine Britt, Luvenia Brower, and Gloria J. Moyd. She also leaves to cherish her memory, one Godsister, Gayle Taliferro, and one Godbrother, Michael Eason (Phyliss), and a host of other family and friends.
Deborah's determination for life, love, and support will be forever missed but never forgotten.
A Visitation for Mrs. Deborah L. Smith will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Second Baptist Potecasi Church, 606 Griffintown Road, Potecasi, North Carolina 27897. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00 PM.

Deborah was my 1st lead hand at Northern Telecom always a big smile and for me a kind word. She didn´t mine helping when she had the time and she made sure the employees in Linecards had everything they needed, rest well Deborah and condolences to the family.
