Debra (Debbie) Block D'Amato passed away suddenly on April 5th, 2023. She was born on October 18th, 1955 in the Bronx, New York to Barbara and Sidney Block. She is survived by her devoted and adoring husband, John and her only child, the light of her eyes, Michael, and her grandson: Piper the Bichon.
Often referred to as the 'hugging angel', she shared and spread her love to all that she met. Whether it was a stranger at a restaurant, a friend, or her loved ones - her affection and tenderness for others was infectious.
Debbie was fiercely creative and began a career as a hair colorist training under Vidal Sassoon. Her ultimate goal was to use her talent and soul to focus on beautifying all that sat in her chair.
Her family was her sole focus and took care of them until the end, often to the exclusion of her own needs. Debbie was a free spirit and deeply spiritual, always posting affirmations that could brighten even the darkest of days. She valued loyalty, honesty, authenticity, and most importantly integrity. She loved music; all of it; everything from Whitney Houston to The Temptations to DJ Sets at Ultra Music Festival.
She loved her entire family, despite their quirks and dysfunction. She worried about them, rooted for them, protected them, resented them, forgave them, and always kept on loving them.
After almost 68 years of living in New York, Debbie and her husband built a paradise for themselves to begin a new chapter in their life on Singer Island in Florida. She wanted to be able to spend more time with their son, Michael and Grandson Piper, cultivate new relationships and live a simple beach life filled with warm waters and serene sunsets.
Debbie will be deeply missed by all those that she's left behind. Our hearts are so broken by this unexpected loss. She was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed.

Deb would always insist that I chose the restaurant that we would have lunch at and then complain about it whenever we ate there. She always made me laugh by insisting I make that choice.
