Debra Demers

 Debra Elaine (Hume) Demers (71), of Hopkinton, NH, passed away on April 8, 2025. She was born on February 1, 1954, to parents Donald and Catherine (Hunt) Hume, in New London, CT.

Debra, affectionately known as Debbie, was the wife of Edmund Demers (71). They were married on June 18, 1977, in Groton, CT. They moved to Hopkinton in 1984, and quickly established strong roots in town. Debbie had several jobs in and around town, although her longest-standing and most-loved job was Mother to her three children, Jeffrey (40), Sarah (38), and Matthew (35).

Debbie enjoyed spending time with her family, watching the birds and wildlife in the backyard, collecting primitives, and watching Hallmark movies. She loved visiting the beach, scouring the sand for precious beach glass and heart-shaped rocks. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she counted down the months until the next one, always starting in January. She was also an avid Yankees fan, although she never held it against anyone who wasn’t.

Debbie is survived by her husband, Edmund Demers; children Jeffrey and Ashley (Ross) Demers, Sarah (Demers) and Keith Hoodlet, Matthew and Taylor (Miller) Demers; grandchildren Cole, Avery, and Owen; sister Diane Sarazen; many in-law siblings; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Catherine Hume, her youngest sister Denise, and her brother Donald.

Services will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 10 a.m., at the NH State Veteran’s Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life, to be held at Alan’s Restaurant in Boscawen. Light refreshments will be served.

Debbie understood that black was common attire for services and Celebrations of Life, but she would have wanted those attending hers to wear some color. Please consider wearing a splash of color in her memory.
