Debra Dodson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Aug. 15, 2024.
On August 13, 2024, Debra Sue Dodson, lifelong resident of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away from this life at the age of 70. Born on March 15, 1954, Debra was the daughter of Leroy Grigsby and Neva Sanchez, both of whom were there to welcome her into Heaven, along with her two brothers, Steve and Randy Grigsby, and her sister, Cindy Price.
She leaves her daughter, Kyla Renee Boydston and son-in-law Freddie Tiger to cherish her memory, along with her grandchildren, Elysia and Freddy Tiger, numerous nieces and nephews who loved her very much, two special friends, Cathy, and Cindy, and many more loved ones and friends.
Debra's kindness, warmth, and generosity profoundly impacted everyone fortunate enough to know her. Those in her life admired Debra for her strength, her independence, and her compassionate nature. With a can-do attitude and an impeccable work ethic, she had a successful 25-year career with Blue Bell Creameries. Starting out as the Receptionist for their Sales office and working her way up to Lead Office Clerk, she thrived at work and thoroughly enjoyed her job until her retirement. She enjoyed staying busy and often spent her free time gardening, planting flowers, and keeping her yard and home looking impeccable – Debra always appreciated a clean house. She also enjoyed scrapbooking and expressing herself via other arts and crafts.
The love and dedication Debra poured into her family knew no bounds. Her cherished grandchildren were particularly special to her, and she treasured every moment spent with them, spoiling them as often as she could. She often displayed her love through her cooking. Celebrating special occasions and holidays with her loved ones brought her such joy, with her kitchen always being a hub of warmth and delightful aromas, especially when she baked. Debra was highly devoted to the happiness and wellbeing of her family, and to the care of her beloved pup, Tiko, who was truly her best friend – her everything. Her ultimate joy was the love she had for her only grandchildren, Elysia and Freddy Tiger.
As we say our goodbyes, let us honor Debra's memory by carrying on her legacy of love. She will be dearly missed by all those fortunate enough to have known her.

Debra was a wonderful friend. Even though we have never meet in person, we have been friends for 25 years. I enjoyed the talks we had and listening to her talk about her family whom she dearly loved. I will miss her!

Debbie was a wonderful friend, a great mother, and a even greater sister and caregiver to her 3 siblings, Randy, Steven, Cindy when they passed. Also caring for her mother until she passed. Caring for others was her legacy. As she was dying her thoughts were of her daughter and grandkids she was leaving. I admired Debbie for the hard working and self sacrificing person she was. I will miss her as a friend and I pray she will Rest in Peace for evermore.
God speed your caring soul to heaven. Say hello to your sister Cindy... one of my best friends for over 45 years.
