Paul Howard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel of Capitol Hill on Jan. 1, 2026.
After facing many health challenges with strength and a positive spirit, Paul Lee Howard, age 65, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on December 12, 2025. He was born on June 29, 1960, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Gehyman and Alice Howard.
Paul attended Fairview High School and Oklahoma Bible Academy. Growing up, he enjoyed bowling and competing in horseshoe tournaments alongside his father, creating memories that stayed with him throughout his life.
As an adult, Paul found joy in simple pleasures-watching football, especially when the Oklahoma Sooners were playing, and following NASCAR races. At the beginning of his career, Paul worked in the oilfield for Waldon's Trend Drilling. Then he found his passion and calling as a professional big rig driver. He took great pride in his work, driving for Groendyke and Tyson. Paul loved the open road and traveling cross-country, often passing the miles by talking with his mom on the phone, a connection he cherished deeply. After retirement, he fondly expressed the desire to drive a big rig just one more time.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Gehyman and Alice Howard; and his grandparents, Pete and Helen Howard, and Luke and Roselyn Montgomery.
He is survived by his loving wife and partner in life, Sharlene Howard; his siblings, David Howard and wife Jean, and Luke Howard and wife Pam; his children, Donald Howard and wife Becca, and Evan Howard; his bonus children, Timothy and wife Ashley Carr, and Janetta and husband Justin Jump; and his beloved grandchildren, Barron Carr, Timber Carr, Emmalee Jump, Colt Jump, Lilliann Jump, Jackson Jump, Braydon Howard, Emmy Howard, and Matthew Howard. He is also survived by many other friends and family members who will miss him dearly.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Open Door Baptist Church, located at 2388 US Highway 62, Blanchard, Oklahoma.
