Robert C Howard passed away peacefully on February 25,2026. Robert was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend whose life was marked by faith, laughter, and devotion to his family. His first love was his Lord and Savior, and he faithfully lived out his Christian beliefs each day with a kind, loving, and giving heart. Robert never hesitated to help anyone in need and found great joy in handing out Christian devotions and sharing his faith with others.
Robert shared 31 beautiful years of marriage with Shirley, the love of his life. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love. He cherished every moment spent with Shirley, his children, and his grandchildren, creating memories filled with warmth and laughter.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Robert spent ten years working for Community Action in Oklahoma City. He also served as a third- and fourth-grade elementary school teacher, where he touched many young lives with patience and encouragement. Later, he moved into the admissions office and continued his passion for education by teaching GED classes, always believing in giving others the opportunity to succeed.
Robert had a joyful spirit and was known as quite the jokester. He loved telling a good joke and especially enjoyed laughing and joking with his children. His sense of humor brought light to every room he entered.
He enjoyed life's simple pleasures-reading, watching television, and cheering on his beloved OU Sooners. Some of his favorite shows were Leave It to Beaver and Malcolm in the Middle. On Sundays, he could often be found reading The Oklahoman. He and Shirley loved to travel, and their favorite destination was the beautiful islands of Hawaii.
He also enjoyed good food, especially a perfectly cooked steak, and loved dining at Charleston's Restaurant.
He enjoyed the men's Sunday school class at Cornerstone Baptist Church and also attended New Beginning Fellowship Church, where he continued to grow in faith and fellowship.
Robert will be remembered as a good and faithful man who always provided for his family, loved deeply, laughed often, and served God wholeheartedly. His legacy of faith, generosity, humor, and love will live on in all who were blessed to know him.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Shirley Helm; his brother, Mike Howard; and the mother of his children, Carla Howard. He is also survived by his children, Lori McIntire and Morgan Howard; his son-in-law, Peter McIntire; his stepson Travis Helm, and his seven grandchildren: Ali, Tyler, Will, Destiny, Krista, Kaitlyn, and Colton.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Denton and Patricia McKinney.
