Debra Dougherty Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gorgen-McGinley & Ayers Funeral Home on May 20, 2024.
Ridgeway – Debra Ann Dougherty "Doodle", I left this world on Sunday, May 19, 2024. I grew up in Hyde Wisconsin, making mud pies with Robert and Lambert Keene, Angie Sawle and the Crook family. Being one of eight siblings seemed so normal. Mom was so hardworking and also a great cook. We never went to bed hungry. That is where I got my love of cooking. Dad worked outside of the farm after milking cows and ran his bobcat and backhoe business. That is where the Owen twins come into the story, way too many stories.
Mom became friends with Evie Gust and they decided I would work for Evie at the Hyde store. I was so shy then. Yes, there was a time I was shy, WOW. I ended up working there for twenty years and met the most wonderful people. In 2005 I bought Doodles bar in Ridgeway and met many more great friends. My friend Cheryl asked me to waitress for a day and five years later I left to focus on the bar. What great friends I made at the Buzz Inn. Working part time at the Iowa County Humane society was so rewarding and also anyone that knows me would not be surprised that I just had to adopt a cat, Gomer. My love of animals is so great but between Dan and Kearsten, Alayna and Garrett they have me beat. Most importantly, September 10, 1993 at 3:30 pm along comes Jordan Faye Dougherty. My sweet baby, my first true love. Now her sweet babies Hadleigh and Oak will give her a reason to be strong like she did for me.
I will miss everyone that has impacted my life. Take care my daughter, Jordan Dougherty, Hadie and Oakie. I am survived by my siblings Mike (Lori) Phelan, Lynn (Paul) Carlstrom, Pam (Phil) Edl, Dan (Kearsten) Phelan, Sue (Jon) Husom, Gene (Angie) Dougherty and Billy (Kate) Dougherty. Nieces and Nephews Kari, Corey (Courtney), Luke (Amanda), Nick (Tera), Dawn, Travis (Carly Jo), Tyler (Candi), Joey (Anna), Andy (Melinda), John (Marissa), Austin, Macy (Isaac), Tayden, Riley, Paisley, Alayna (Garrett), Patrick, Matt (Hannah), Allison (Nate), Emma, Liam and numerous great nieces and nephews. Also survived by Aunt Katie Olson, Uncle Larry McDowell, Uncle Rob and Aunt Peg Rewey.
I was so proud to be part of the Dougherty, Phelan, Oimoen, Olson, Cretney, Sullivan, Johnson family. There are too many who passed before me to mention them all, but I am looking forward to seeing Mom and Dad (Bill and Karen Dougherty), sister-in-law Patty (Moyer) Phelan, Grandma and Grandpa (Clark and Glennie Rewey), Grandma Martha Husom and my sweet Grandson Tucker.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville.
In lieu of flower, Debra's wishes were to have memorials be made for her daughter Jordan and her grandchildren.
