Michael James Martell, age 69, passed away peacefully at his home on January 27th 2026.
Michael was born on March 25, 1956 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin to Dr. John and Shirley Martell. Early on in his childhood he was dubbed the nickname “Pickle” which followed him the rest of his life. He graduated from Dodgeville High School in 1974 where he lettered in football, baseball, basketball and played the trombone. He attended La Crosse University and found lifelong friendships in his fraternity Phi Sigma Epsilon and later graduated from Cardinal Stritch University with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
Michael was a dedicated and loving partner to his wife, Susan, who passed away in July of 2022. They loved to travel to try out different fishing spots and were always surrounded by what they loved, laughter, joy and their animals.
Michael worked for decades for Holiday Station Stores in Bloomington, MN as a price analyst. His first love was the game of golf, which he passed on to both of his children. We know he is now enjoying the 19th hole after a good round of golf.
He is survived his son, Jack Martell; daughter, Ashley Scherer (Eric); grandchildren, Casen and Harlan; brothers, Steve and Jeff Martell (Linda); nephews, John and James; brother-in-law, Jeff Shea (Kieran); nephew, Jack; and niece, Savannah.
