Debby was born on July 19, 1965, in Fairfax, Missouri to Ron and Zella Johnston. She was the oldest of four children, followed by John Johnston, Kelly (Johnston) Pytluk, and Melody (Johnston) Drieling. She lived most of her childhood and high school years in the Maryville, Missouri area. She graduated from West Nodaway High School, Burlington Junction in 1983 and then became Missouri State certified at Casters Beauty Academy in 1984 for a career in cosmetology.
She moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1991. It was then where she met and married Thomas (Tom) Greene on May 22, 1993, with his daughter T'lene (Greene) Sterkel. They stayed married for over 30 years. During their marriage, they had two children together, Ryan James Greene and Jordyn Elizabeth (Greene) Held. She was the driving force for home schooling both Ryan and Jordyn through elementary and middle school – this allowed precious time with her children growing up. Her knowledge to teach and guide, shined through.
Debby was a faithful servant of the Lord. She loved bible studies with our small groups, reading her "Daily Bread", and spent many hours a day talking to Jesus.
Debby held various jobs throughout her life including loan processing, insurance, Altera Sterling House Assisted Living, Larimer County Hospice, Elder Care, HomeWell adult care services and in-home care services. Her kindness, willingness to listen, empathy, and selflessness provided the desire to always care for others who could not care for themselves.
She was fortunate to travel many summer vacations across the country with her family. For her birthday, she always requested to spend the weekend in Glenwood Springs, Colorado and enjoy the sulfur hot springs and warm sun. She loved keeping a clean house. She made frequent trips with her children to Estes Park to walk around downtown and grab some toffee for home. She always made an effort to go on daily walks, many of which included her dear friends. The basic necessities always brought her joy: Chick-fil-a, chai tea lattes at Starbucks, and countless shopping trips at Target. Those were only some of her fondest moments – spending time with the ones she loves.
She passed away in the morning of March 27, 2024, surrounded by Tom, Ryan, and Jordyn and Lauren, her registered nurse from Pathway Hospice. She was in peace and comfort.
She is survived by her Husband Tom Greene (Loveland), daughter Jordyn Held and husband Mitchell (Milliken), daughter T'lene Sterkel and husband Tyler (Loveland), son Ryan Greene and partner Ryan Nelson (Johnstown), grand children: Cole Trytten (Fort Carson, Colorado), Noah Trytten (Fort Gordon, Augusta GA), Rowan Held and Oliver Held (Milliken), mother Zella Johnston (Loveland), brother John (JJ) Johnston and wife Veronica (Odessa, Florida), sister Kelly Pytluk and husband Ken (Fort Collins), sister Melody Drieling and husband Graem (Timnath) and six nieces and nephews: Parker Pytluk and Brody Pytluk (Fort Collins), Isabella Johnston (Odessa, Florida), Dallas Dreiling and Tucker Dreiling (Timnath).
The family is greatly appreciative to Pathway Hospice of Larimer County, Colorado and all of their staff. Please make donations to Pathway Hospice and the Alzheimer's Association to help others throughout their journey.
The service is scheduled for April 5, 2024, at 1:00 PM, and will take place at the Good Shepherd Church.
