Debra Amy (Thompson) Harris, 71, of Gallatin, TN, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024, at NHC Place Sumner.
Debra was born on June 23, 1953, in Ticonderoga, New York, to the late Joseph and Amy Thompson. She grew up in Ticonderoga, where she graduated from Ticonderoga High School.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Neal Harris; her children, Neal Harris (Jennifer) and Kelly Gibbar (Joshua); and her cherished grandchildren, Neal Michael and Nolan Harris, and Theodore and Lincoln Gibbar. Debra is also lovingly remembered by her sisters Donna Belcher and Denise Rafferty, her brothers Joseph "Denny," David, and Dale Thompson, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Debra’s life was beautifully defined by love—her deep, unwavering love for her family and her ability to find joy in life’s simplest moments. Debra devoted much of her life to being a loving wife and a nurturing mother while ensuring a loving home as the family moved several times around the country. Known for her optimism and radiant happiness, Debra was a source of joy and love to those who knew her. Later in life, her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her four grandsons, which filled her heart with endless pride and happiness. Her working years included time at the Rivergate Mall JCPenney drapery department during its vibrant heyday, followed by a fulfilling role at Gaylord Opryland, where she delighted in sharing the magic of the hotel and its Christmas events with visitors.
Debra also had a special place in her heart for animals, which reflected her compassionate and kind spirit.
