Fitchburg - Debra A. "Debbie" Maynard, 66, of Fitchburg, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025.
On May 7th, the City of Fitchburg held the "light the town purple" Relay for Life cancer event. Coincidentally it was the same day my mother lost her 2+year battle with Pancreatic Cancer, which is represented by the color purple and also my mother's favorite color. Those who know me know I do not usually believe in coincidence but my mother and I have volunteered hundreds if not thousands of hours to the Fitchburg community over the years. Whether it was my involvement with PAL, Fitchburg Rec, Fitchburg public schools or Mayssa she was either working tirelessly behind the scenes stocking up the concessions or making sure the pizzas got there on time and often working the concession stand sporting her standalone purple Zedas sweatshirt. My mother loved the City of Fitchburg; she very rarely missed a tree lighting on the common or a 4th of July block party. Attended concerts in the park and made sure she got her chicken BBQ at the Knights. Most notably she sat in the same spot on Summer St for the 4th of July parade for 60 out of her 66 year life, thanking our veterans, officers and firefighters as they walked by. It would have been 62 but she drove her truck pulling a mayor's float one year and sat across the street with a boyfriend one year.
On May 7th my family and I, friends and the Fitchburg Community lost one of the hardest working (stubborn) and dedicated people I have ever met. She worked right to the very end because that is who she was. She will be missed, even by people who didn't know that she was the one they should have been thanking. She didn't like the spot light and did things not for the credit but simply because she wanted to. Those who knew her knew that she did not do anything she did not want to do, or at least not without letting you know how "not pleased" she was about it. She always did it wearing her purple rings and watch, wearing her purple shirt, sweatshirt and sneakers and always sporting her purple fingernails and pocketbook!
Mom I know your grandkids were your heart and brought you a huge sense of pride. You have made a huge impact on their lives and they will always remember their Mimi!
Rest Easy Mom! I love you and will miss you!
Debbie is survived by her two children, Rick Maynard and wife Clarissa of Fitchburg, Cory Maynard of Fitchburg; grandchildren, Rylie, Dechlan, and Charlotte Maynard; three sisters, Robin Abbott and husband Dale, Donna Maynard, and Kelly Maynard-Hill; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Lorry (Trainque) Maynard.
Funeral services will be held privately. The Isabelle & Anderson Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg is assisting the family.

To all the family,
We are so sorry to hear of Deb´s passing. We knew her from Zedas. I would like to think we were her best customers. Lol she loved us and we loved her. We will miss her smiling face. The tribute for her is beautiful and fitted Deb well.
