A former life coach for the Kennedy Center, Deb devoted her life to helping others and took great pride in that. She was charmingly sharp, embarrassingly honest, and happily never knew how to use her inside voice. Deb lived her life fully with great humor and she was always up for an adventure. In her youth, she would relish in hustling a game of pool against those who thought little of a girl. Debbie was always ready for good times, great music, and making wonderful memories with friends and family. She had one daughter, but she was a mom to many. Deb considered her nieces, nephews, and many dear friends as her kids and loved them fiercely as well. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
In addition to her mother, Bernice, she is survived by her cherished daughter, Vicki Pekar of Milford; siblings, Lori Leonetti, Stephen, Jr and his spouse Christine Leonetti, and David and his spouse Diane Leonetti; nieces and nephews: Wenonah, Alexis and her spouse Jose, Ashleigh, Justin and his spouse Bayan and their children, Jessica and her spouse Ray and their children, Stephen III, and Zander. In addition to her father, Debra was predeceased by her former husband, James "Flaco" Pekar, who remained her friend throughout the years.
A Celebration of Debra's Life will be held at a date and place to be announced in the future. The family wishes to thank The Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Stratford - Debra A. Leonetti Pekar, age 68 of Stratford, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2025 after a long battle with her health. Born in Bridgeport on May 14th,1957, she was a daughter of Stephen Leonetti, Sr. (deceased) and Bernice (Wakeley) Leonetti of Monroe.

To Deb's family....sending condolences. Deb was a spitfire and one of the kindest most giving people I knew. You had to love her honesty or maybe you were offended by it....your loss if so. She was a great help with my disabled daughter and later on just an awesome friend. I would not have wanted to go through life not having met her. This world was by far made better because of her and with her in it. Her energy will be here for sure. As she would say ...."I ain't going anywhere". Love ya tons Deb
