Our dear Debra G. Olson (Ruffino), of Crystal Lake, IL, passed away on May 15th, 2024.
Debra was born November 25th, 1950 in Oak Park, IL to Bernard and Donna(lene) Ruffin. She had half-sisters Geraldine (d. 2022) and Jacqueline, and brothers Scott (d. 2017) and Garry (d. 2016).
Debra graduated from Elgin High School in 1969 and lived most of her life in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. She also lived in Sarasota, FL, and Ocean Beach, CA.
Debra was an artist with any tool placed in her hands; she discovered an interest in clothing design early, that never left her. She dedicated her 54-year career to bridal design and alterations. Debra was incredibly proud that her skill allowed her to make women feel more beautiful and confident on the most important days of their lives.
Debra had a deep and abiding love for music, thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere of a sporting event, had an insatiable taste for travel, and was always interested in a party.
Debra's friends and family were the epicenter of her life. She spent hours of each day keeping up with her people, visited with her children and grandchildren multiple days each week, and-no matter how busy she was-always whipped up something amazing for dinner.
Debra was the beloved wife of Robert Olson; the cherished mother of Alec Krabbe (Stacy) and Genevieve Prochaska (Anthony); doting Nana to Madelyn, Evelyn, Ajax and Delilah; she was a sister, cousin, Aunt, and a dear friend. She left indelible impacts everywhere she went. She is so loved, and so sorely missed.
A celebration of life will be held on July 27th, from noon to 4 p.m., at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176), Crystal Lake, IL.
