Richard Allen Douglas, 76, of Elgin, Illinois, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026, at his home, surrounded by loved ones.
Born November 2, 1949, in Belvidere, Richard was the son of William Douglas and Eunice Milich. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1969. He worked for many years at Simpson Electric and AID, as well as operating his own grass-cutting business. A hard worker, Richard took great pride in everything he did.
He kept busy by staying active in a bowling league and working on various woodworking projects. He also enjoyed attending the annual Northern Illinois Steam Power and Threshing Show in Sycamore. He had a lifelong love for automobiles, especially his trucks and enjoyed caring for them.
Richard is survived by his sisters, Linda (Timothy) Neely of Woodstock, Cynthia (Eduardo) Medina of Hampshire, and Donna (Charles) Peters of Elgin. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Samantha (Larell) Granger of Elgin, Charles (Felicia) Peters Jr. of Springfield, and Sabrina (Will) Ollie of Springfield. His great-nieces and great-nephews include Samara, Saniya, Lazrell, and LaRius Granger of Elgin, and Raphael Ollie and Ariya Peters of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Douglas; his mother, Eunice Milich; his aunt, June Ekman; his grandparents, Alrick G. and Roberta L. (Bates) Ekman; and his great-nephews and great-niece, Eli, Elijah, and Amaya Peters.
The family would like to extend special thanks to his caregivers, Tangela Young, Gertude McClain, Maria Mazzocco, Dulce Candelas, Jeannette Thomas, J.R. Johnson, Andrea and Cynthia. We thank you for the compassionate care of Rich.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, at Olson's Cooper Quiram Chapel, 202 E. Main St.,
Genoa, IL 60135, following visitation from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Genoa Township Cemetery.
