Debra (Debbie) Lynn Sheets, 72, of McPherson, Kansas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January

28, 2026 at Ascension St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, Kansas with family by her side.

Debbie was born on September 17, 1953, in McPherson, Kansas to Jack W. and Dolores M. (Wallace)

Mathes.

Debbie attended Centerview Country School thru 6th grade and then McPherson Middle School,

McPherson High School graduating in 1971. Debbie was active in band, vocal music, pep club and

Church activities all thru her school years. Debbie went on to attend business classes at Brown Mackie,

Salina, Kansas and Hutchinson Jr. College, Hutchinson, Kansas.

In 1973 Debbie was united in marriage to Tim Dearing and blessed with three children, Kimberly, TJ and

Tommy. On November 12, 1982 Debbie was united in marriage to Brent Sheets in McPherson, Kansas.

Early in their marriage Debbie and Brent enjoyed traveling abroad, creating lasting memories together.

Throughout the years they shared a life with family activities including baseball, wrestling, vacations, ski

trips as a family and with Church youth groups. Debbie spent evenings and weekends supporting Brent,

her children and grandchildren at sporting events and activities. She was known for being a great

bookkeeper and record keeper for Brent, the twins and their teammates. Debbie took great joy in

attending any activities her grandchildren were involved in and always their biggest fan. Whatever it

was, hockey, dance, baseball, wrestling or basketball, she loved it all. In her spare time, Debbie spent

countless hours quilting, scrapbooking, card making and crafting. She was exceptionally talented and

many were blessed over the years to receive her beautiful cards and quilts, each one a gift of love and

thoughtfulness.

Debbie's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a devoted member of the First Christian Church,

McPherson, Kansas. Her relationship with God shaped the way she loved and served others. Debbie

found great joy in serving on many church committees including Joyce Baker DWF and working with the

"Pebbles" at Rock Solid Kids, offering encouragement, guidance and nurturing their Faith.

Deb worked for many financial institutions for over 35 years of her career. Through her career she

touched many lives, thoughtfully helping and guiding customers with their finances.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband, Brent Sheets, McPherson, her sister, Sondra Frank,

McPherson, her children, Kimberly (Matt) Veer, Melville, SK, Canada, TJ (Lindsay) Dearing, McPherson,

Tommy (Amie) Dearing, Maryville, TN, six grandchildren, Garrett Veer (fiancée Bailey) and Kendall Veer,

Canada, Trace and Teague Dearing, McPherson, Jacqueline and Olivia Dearing, Tennessee.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Dolores Mathes, Bill and Margaret Sheets and

brother in law, Charles Frank.

Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, from 5pm – 7pm at Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home,222

W. Euclid, McPherson, Kansas, with family present. Funeral service will be held on Friday, Feb. 20, 2026

at 10:30 am at the First Christian Church, 101 S Walnut, McPherson, Kansas. Final resting place at

McPherson Cemetery, private family burial.

Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church or Churches United in Ministry in care of the funeral

home.

The family wished to express sincere appreciation for all your prayers and kindness, evidenced in

thought and deed, and for your presence at this service. Following the service, the family invites all to

join them in Century Hall for food and fellowship.
