CARTHAGE—Debra I. Sixberry, 66, of Carthage, NY, died peacefully on December 2, 2025, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, NY, surrounded by her loving family, following a lengthy illness.

Born on December 13, 1958, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Jessie (Kenworthy) Peters. She graduated from Carthage High School in 1976. On June 19, 1976, she married Ken Sixberry at the Baptist Church in Carthage. Debra worked as a nurse's aide at the Country Manor Nursing Home, retiring early in 2004 due to a back injury.

Debra was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping, and crocheting during the winter, often making blankets to donate. She had a special love for her animals.

She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Ken Sixberry of Carthage; her daughter, Christy (Jeff) Hansen of Carthage; her son, Kenneth D. (Crystal) Sixberry of Carthage; eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by her parents and her brothers, William and Fred Peters.

There will be no public services. Interment will take place in the spring at Sandford Corners Cemetery in Calcium, NY.

In place of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Lewis County Humane Society, 6390 Pine Grove Road, Glenfield, NY 13343.
