Ronald J. Sanders, 85, of Carthage, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, NY with his loving family at his side.
Born on February 22, 1940, in Carthage, New York, Ronald was the son of the late Byron and Nellie Sanders. He attended local schools and was employed by Climax Manufacturing, where he retired in 2001 after 41 years of service.
He married Elaine Neadow on April 29, 1961, at the St. James Catholic Church in Carthage. Ronald was an avid hunter, fisherman, and local bowler. He was known for taking many pictures and cherished spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Sanders, of Carthage, and their children: Robin (Mark) Smith of Carthage, Ronnie (Terry) Sanders of Adams Center, Lori (Timothy) Koehler of Phenix City, AL, and Gregory (Amy) Sanders of Carthage. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, his brother Haulice (Evelyn) Sanders of Carthage, and his sisters Beverly (Bill) Burr of Harrisville, Victoria (Harry) Durant of Carthage, and Mary Sanders of South Carolina.
Ronald was predeceased by his parents and his son, Randy Sanders.
There will be no calling hours. A funeral will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of the funeral home, with Rev. Todd Thibault, Pastor of St. James Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be held in the spring at the New St. James Cemetery in Carthage, NY.
