Debbie Taylor, 69, of Alton left us and graduated to glory on August 15, 2025, after a long illness.
She was born to Clarence and Catherine Beck on March 3, 1956, in Alton.
Debbie grew up with a happy-go-lucky attitude, despite any challenges that life presented her. She loved to read, win spelling bee contests, and had an exceptional love for music as she played the oboe in the Alton High School orchestra. She married on July 12, 1986, to Greg Taylor. She received two step-children, Mark (50) and Tony (48); then had two wonderful children, Jessica (36) and Nicholas (35). Debbie had a good sense of humor. She enjoyed a great relationship with her husband and deeply treasured her kids. She loved white cats and liked to do counted cross stitch, even working with Creative Circle teaching others how to cross stitch. Debbie had a very sweet personality and accepted everyone, often impressing strangers with her total acceptance and pleasantness. She had a die-hard loyalty to her favorites, including her grandchildren, whom she loved to spend time with since they were local, Jace, Gracie, and Tillie. Despite many health issues in her life, Debbie remained optimistic and sought to look to the future with a positive attitude, refusing to give up despite continual health challenges.
Debbie is preceded in death by both of her parents, her sister, Janet Fill, and her brother, Milton Beck. She is leaving behind her husband, Greg, of Alton; step-sons, Mark (Andrea) Taylor of Alton, Tony (Sarah) Taylor of Murfreesboro, TN; daughter, Jessica Taylor of Caseyville IL; and son, Nick (Sam) Taylor of Bethalto, IL, including nine grandchildren.
We may be sad for our loss but are greatly comforted by realizing how great a time she is having in heaven.
The memorial service will be held Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Life Church at 2814 Victory Dr, Granite City, IL starting promptly at 4 p.m.
Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto has been entrusted for cremation services.
