Debra Susan White, 69, passed away peacefully Saturday August 30, 2025, at home in Colorado Springs. Debbie was born February 17, 1956, in Little Falls, Minnesota to Patrick and Donna Lodermeier.
Debbie was a graduate of Urbandale (Iowa) High School, Class of 1974. This was where she met the love of her life, Dennis Robert White while each was working at Bellas Hess department store. Debbie and Dennis were married February 5, 1977, in Urbandale. To their union 3 sons were born, Jason, Brian, and Adam. Debbie and Dennis are now blessed with 4 grandchildren.
Debbie's younger years were spent as part of a large military family which was often moving. She spent time in Minnesota, Arkansas, Georgia, Alaska and Illinois during this time. The family eventually settled in her parents' hometown of Royalton, MN, a place that has always held a special place in Debbie's heart. This nomadic life imprinted on Deb at a young age sentimentalism for people over things that followed her the remainder of her life.
Debbie attended Des Moines Area Community College after high school, where she studied dental assisting. She offered her skills in offices and classrooms in several states as her and Dennis' married life introduced even more moves. She had the uncanny ability to forge long and lasting relationships wherever she was. This was a result of her knack of making a home wherever she laid her head. Together, Debbie and Dennis lived in Iowa, Indiana, and Nebraska. However, it was in Colorado where they settled and found themselves both happy and content. The comfort they built in this place, at the foot of the Rockies, is where their community made Deb's final months as comfortable as possible.
At the age of 40 Debbie was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. The way she accepted this diagnosis and refused to allow it to identify her inspired many. Because the pride of Debbie's life was always her children and grandchildren. Look up "Hockey Mom" in the dictionary and you will likely find a photo of Deb. Her commitment to attending games, recitals, and birthday parties is unmatched, and this helped build the extremely strong bonds she had with the younger generations in her family.
Debbie and Dennis traveled often, with St. Maarten being a favorite destination. She was a great tipper. Debbie never said no to a kid's lemonade stand or a struggling door-to-door salesman. She loved animals, particularly squirrels. Debbie would talk to anyone and loved to hear their stories. She loved radio-friendly hip hop from the early 2000's. More than anything, Debbie was a woman with a strong spirit who loved deeply.
Debbie is survived by her loving husband, Dennis of 48 years; son Jason (Nicole) White, their children Cameron and Luke White; son Brian White, his children Simon and Fiona White, their mother Elizabeth Folkestad; son Adam White, all of Colorado. Siblings Larry (Rhonda) Lodermeier, Becky (Joe) Krob, Dan (Nancy) Lodermeier, Jim (Brenda) Lodermeier, and Rob Lodermeier (Christy Avery). As well as countless nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. Debra is preceded in death by her parents Patrick and Donna Lodermeier; her infant brother Patrick Lodermeier; and her father-in-law Robert White.
Visitation will be 10:30-11:30 a.m., Saturday, September 13 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Urbandale, with a memorial service beginning at 11:30 a.m. Debbie will be laid to rest at Winterset Cemetery at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, Animal Resue League of Iowa, or Multiple Sclerosis Alliance of Southern Colorado.
