Debra Windham Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Haisten Funeral Home - Jackson on Mar. 17, 2026.
Debra Jean Cochran Windham passed away March 17, 2026 after a period of declining health. Debbie was born April 18, 1953 to Harold (Shot) Cochran and Jewel Reid Cochran.

A graduate of the Jackson High School Class of 1971, she joined the United States Navy in 1972 and served until 1976. She worked as a barber in the Navy and later continued her education at Griffin Technical College. She worked at a hair salon in Riverdale prior to coming to Jackson and eventually owning The Hair Shack.

She was married to Donald W. Windham until his death in 2002. She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Jewel Cochran; a sister, Cathye Compton; and a beloved niece, Carin Burford. Survivors include her sister, Gail Burford (David), Jenkinsburg; nieces, April Watson (Brian), Jay, FL, Sara Bradshaw (Buddy), Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Lauren Jarosewicz (Kyle), Freeport, FL; a great-nephew, Bray Watson, Tallahassee, FL and a great-niece, Brett Watson, Pensacola, FL.

She was a member of Worthville Baptist Church. She is fondly remembered by family and friends as a practical jokester and the teller of childhood stories with a dramatic flair. She referred to herself as "Crazy Aunt Debbie" to her nieces and nephew. Until her health declined, she could be the life of the party and was a joy to be around.

A memorial service for Debbie Cochran Windham will be held at a later date.
