Franklin Weaver Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Haisten Funeral Home - Jackson on Feb. 27, 2026.
Mr. Franklin Hugh Weaver, Sr., passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026, at the Westbury Center of Jackson for Nursing and Healing. Born on January 20, 1938, in Butts County, he was a beacon of love and generosity throughout his 88 years of life.
Franklin's journey began as the beloved son of Otis Paton Weaver and Martha Dell Lindsey Weaver, who preceded him in death. His life was one of steadfast commitment and joy, exemplified by his loving marriage of 24 years to Carolyn Ann Benefield Weaver. Together, they cultivated a family grounded in love and respect. Franklin's legacy is carried on by his devoted son, Hugh Franklin Weaver, Jr., his caring daughter, Pamela DeLee Wilson, and her husband Michael. His grandchildren, Christopher Franklin & Beth Weaver, Robert Peyton & Charley Weaver, and Hugh Graham Weaver, along with his six great-grandchildren, will forever hold dear the lessons and love he conveyed.
Franklin's family circle extended with warmth to his stepchildren, Jason Daniels & Shelly White, Tynessa Daniels, and Michael & Julie Johns, as well as his three step-grandchildren. Each one of them cherished the moments shared and the wisdom gained from Franklin's presence in their lives.
Franklin's educational pursuits led him to achieve a Bachelor's Degree from Georgia State University, a testament to his dedication and hard work. His professional life was marked by a long-standing commitment to Gold Kist, where he was employed from 1969 until his retirement in 2001. Post-retirement, Franklin harnessed his green thumb to plant blueberries and blackberries, founding the Weaver Berryland Farm, a testament to his love for nature and cultivation.
Franklin was a proud member of the FFA, a former Scout leader, and an active participant in two square dancing clubs, the Dixie Squares and Peachtree Squares. His passion for model trains was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his attention to detail and the joy he found in the complexities of life.
Franklin will be remembered as a loving, generous, and handy man, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a smile. His interests took him on many adventures, finding great places to eat while traveling, always with an eye for the next delightful experience.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones to visit and share memories at Towaliga Baptist Church beginning at 10 AM on Monday, March 2, 2026. A funeral service honoring Franklin's life will follow in the church at 11 AM, officiated by Dr. Jim Martin and Mr. Hugh Weaver. Franklin will be laid to rest in the Towaliga Baptist Church Cemetery.
