Dee Scott Chambers

Dee Chambers, 92, of Albany passed into glory with his children at his side. The son of Elmer and Jennie Chambers (Sullivan), Dee was born in Brownsville,Oregon.

As a boy, Dee was raised in various locations in the Willamette Valley. Most of his childhood was spent in the Dever Conner area where his parents farmed. Dee worked on the family farm and also worked for his beloved Uncle Elbert Chambers. After graduation from high school he continued to work on the family farm. At the age of 19, he enlisted in the army and relocated to Virginia where he completed basic training. From there he was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. Before he shipped off to Alaska, Dee fell in love and married his soulmate, Roberta McCary. Their first date happened after a buddy bet him that he wouldn't

ever get a date with Roberta. Dee won that bet! After his time in the service, he returned to Dever Conner, started

acquiring land and continued to farm, creating a good livelihood for the family.

Agriculture was Dee's passion and he poured his heart into it. There were many lean years balanced by years of good

crops, good yields, and once in awhile good prices. Through it all, Dee trusted that God was leading the way. Other than his duty to his country, Dee spent his entire life on the farm, working as long as he was able.Even into his mid eighties, one could find him on his tractor doing what he loved. In the years after Roberta's passing, Dee reconnected with long time friend Charlene Kizer who quickly became a beloved member of the family and brought much joy into Dee's life. Dee loved his family and was a wonderful, Godly father and husband. He was fun, had a great sense of humor and really enjoyed a good joke.

Dee is survived by his children Linda (Jim) Swindle, Rodney (Kim) Chambers and his friend and companion Charlene Kizer. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren ,11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Dee was preceded in death by Roberta Chambers and his sisters Violet Ellison, Judy Aho, and Cathy Roberts.

Service to be held at Fisher Funeral Home at 1:00 Thursday Sept 25th, with a celebration of life to follow at Roddy Ranch in Dever at 3:00.
