Dee Murphy, of Meridian, Idaho, made her journey home into her Savior’s embrace on February 4, 2026, after a courageous battle with non-specific metastatic cancer.

Dee was born Beulah Dean Lancaster in 1936 to the late Delbert and Pearl Lancaster. She was preceded in death by her four sisters—Ann, Phyllis, Vivian, and Della; her beloved husband, Michael Peter Murphy; her grandson, Joshua Aiden Murphy; and her son-in-law, Roland William Steadham.

Those left to cherish her memory and carry her light include her sister, Laverne Compton of Mitchell Heights, West Virginia; her two sons, Travis L. Cain of Rio Vista, California, and Shawn P. Murphy of Canton, Georgia; her daughter, Erin Steadham of Star, Idaho; as well as nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Dee was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother with a true joy for living and a remarkable gift for loving. When her grandchildren were young, they lovingly called her Mimi-Toy—not only because she was pint-sized, but because she was their favorite “toy.” All children adored Dee. She had a special way of speaking to them and playing with them on their level, making everyone feel seen and cherished.

A devout Catholic, Dee was a parishioner of Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Meridian, Idaho. She raised her children in the Catholic faith and made great sacrifices to provide them with a private Catholic school education. Her church family meant the world to her, and she treasured the lifelong fellowship she found through her faith.

Dee loved country music and loved to dance. As an empty nester—before rheumatoid arthritis limited her—she traveled throughout California competing in swing dance competitions, embracing the joy and freedom of the dance floor.

In her golden years, Dee delighted in playing bridge, hosting dinner parties, and organizing game nights with friends. After moving to Idaho with her daughter and son-in-law, she joined the Red Hat Society and took great pleasure in their monthly gatherings and activities. She especially cherished her Canasta friends and eagerly anticipated their weekly card-game luncheons.

Dee often expressed how blessed she felt that the Lord brought her to Idaho, sharing that the friendships, activities, and church family she found there were among the most enriching experiences of her life.

Dee is remembered by family and friends as having a big heart and a bright light. She simply wanted to help and give to those who touched her life. Her absence is deeply felt, and the legacy of love she leaves behind will bless her posterity for generations to come.

Mom, Mimi, Grandma, Sister, Dear Friend-We love you to the moon and back, and will miss you until we meet again.
