Deena Joyce Vachon, age 83, passed away at Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge, Colorado on Tuesday, January 27th. Deena was born on May 8th, 1942, in Lewiston, Maine, and attended Burdette College with an associate’s degree. Deena married her high school sweetheart, Pat Vachon on June 30th, 1962. Deena was a home maker and did a great job of raising her two sons Mike and Dan. She played contract bridge and won the sectional championship in 1977. Deena was always very supportive of her husband and kids... No matter what they were doing, she was always a part of it. She loved doing all kinds of crafts, playing games, gardening, reading books, baking, watching the Broncos, and she loved her candy.
Deena was a very loving and giving soul, willing to take many into her expanded family and treat them all as her own. Willing to give to those in the family that needed help and support them in any way she could. She was Nana to so many that she cared about, and they adored her for that. She was active in the Red Hats in Arvada for many years with her best friend, Cecile Harris. She loved to go to her son’s concerts and attended just about every show even up until the end. She would not miss a school show or sporting event for grandkids or great grandkids.
Deena was preceded in death by her husband Pat (Arvada), and her brother David Collins(Maine); And is survived by her sister Debbie Mongeau (Maine); sons Daniel and his wife Cooky (Arvada), Michael and his wife Ellen (New York); Grandchildren Ariel Hatch and her husband Reece (Northglenn), Kyle Vachon (Tennessee), Kelli McCormack and her husband Eddie (New York), and Nick Vachon and his wife Gina (New York); Step-Grandchildren, Greg Riggs and his wife Carrie (Florida), Ryan Riggs (Arvada), James Cox (Arvada), and Stephanie Krizek and her husband Danno (Thornton); great grandchildren Dylan Riggs, Lillie Hatch, Callie Hatch, Austin Riggs, Landon Riggs, Anniston Krizek, Magnolia Vachon, Myla Krizek, Nolan Vachon, and Vivienne McCormack, and numerous nieces and nephews. Deena found immense joy in her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the Horan & McConaty Chapel (7577 W.80th Avenue, Arvada) on Thursday February 12th from 5-7 PM. Funeral Services will be held at Spirit of Christ Church (7400 W.80th Avenue, Arvada) on Friday February 13th at 11 AM, with a reception at the church to follow at 12 PM.
