Del Ray Bevan, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and neighbor, passed away peacefully surrounded by all his loved ones, Thursday, March 26th, 2026. He was born August 25th, 1947, in Driggs, Idaho, to Velda Jane Bates Bevan McKellar and J Bertram Bevan. He is the 2nd to the oldest of 10 children.
Del Ray married Reta Barnhurst on February 22, 1974, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had 6 children.
He went to Weber State College and the University of Utah in Electrical Engineering and Minored in Music Theory. Del Ray served a Mission at the age of 21, to South West Indian Mission, fondly called S.W.I.M. He loved the Native American Indians very much. He also learned to speak Navaho, even though it was NOT a Navaho speaking mission.
Del Ray's grandfathers really encouraged him to go on a mission and both of the grandfathers passed away while he was serving his mission.
Del Ray and his brothers started building boats in 1969, and established Bevans Marine. He was very adventurous. He raced motorcycles, boats and snowmobiles and competed at Widow Maker Hill Climb several times. He loved going on trips with his family. He loved the Gospel and loved learning and reading. He served as Mission President in the Jordan North Stake and as a High Councilman., and many other positions.
Survived by his children, Marlo (Alli), Derrick (Courtney), Tasha (Reed) Kedar, Garet (Oakley) and 14 grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents Velda and J Bertram; brother Marlo Robert, stepfather Frank MCKellar and son Zane.
The funeral will be held Friday, April 3, 2026, at the Jordan North 2nd Ward, 4270 Falcon Street, West Valley City, Utah, 84120. Viewings will be held, Thursday, April 2nd, 6-9:00 p.m. and again Friday morning from 9-10:45 a.m. also at the church building,
Interment; Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah.
