Delia "Nana" Hernandez, age 84, of Seguin, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 21, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. Born on September 21, 1941, in Midland, Texas, she was a bright light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Nana embodied the essence of devotion—devoted to her family, her friends, and her faith. As a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, she filled her household with warmth and joy. Her love for life was infectious, and her joyful spirit drew people in like a magnet. Nana found ultimate happiness in dancing, cooking, shopping, and spending time socializing with her cherished friends. However, nothing brought her more joy than creating lasting memories with her beloved daughters, sons, and numerous grandchildren. They were her pride and joy, and she treasured every single moment spent with them.
A woman of deep faith, Nana was a proud Catholic whose love for Jesus Christ illuminated her life. Her faith provided her with comfort, strength, and joy, especially in her moments at Mass, which she attended with sincerity and devotion. This faith was intertwined with her unyielding spirit and heartwarming personality.
Nana also embraced her playful side as a dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan, passionately cheering for her team every season. She shared her enthusiasm with those around her, igniting a sense of community and connection that further enriched her life.
She is survived by her loving family, including her daughters, Carol Villa and husband Jimmy Villa from Granbury, TX; Patricia Arriaga and husband Joe Arriaga from Seguin, TX; Viola H. Villa from Big Spring, TX; Michelle Hernandez from Seguin, TX; her sons, Raymond Hernandez and Julian Hernandez, both from Seguin, TX; Ricky Hernandez and wife Dolores Hernandez from Big Spring, TX; and Benny Hernandez and wife Maira Hernandez from Midland, TX. Nana’s legacy will carry on through her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Rosa Valles, Yolanda Rodriguez, Sandy Zarate all of Midland, TX, Adelina Bernard of Abilene, Joan Biscarro and husband Raul of Dallas who will continue to feel her love and warmth.
Nana was extremely proud of her father, a military veteran and Purple Heart recipient of World War II. She also took great pride in her granddaughter, Roxie Sykes, a navy veteran. These accomplishments were a testament to her family's legacy of strength and service.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paulino and Leonora Rodriguez from Midland, TX; her loving husband, Rudy Hernandez II; sons, Rudy Hernandez III and Luis Hernandez; her sister, Margie Tucker; brothers, Manuel, Ganzo, and Sammy Rodriguez; and grandsons, Rudy Hernandez IV, Julian Jr. Hernandez, and Angel Villa.
Nana's warmth, kindness, and vibrant personality will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. We take solace in knowing that her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family and the countless lives she touched.
Visitation will be held on December 1, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Palmer Mortuary & Cremations, with a Rosary starting at 6:30 PM. A Mass will be celebrated in her honor on December 2, 2025, at St. James Catholic Church at 10:00 AM and interment will follow at Santo Tomas Cemetery.
