Della K. Hildebrand, 75, a Bucyrus resident up until the past few years, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Lexington Court Care Center following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born August 15, 1949, in Bucyrus to the late Frederick F. and Delloris M. (Snavely) Kelley and was a graduate of Bucyrus High School. Later in life, she was proud to have completed her associate degree from Marion Technical College. On November 29, 1969, she married her high school sweetheart, Thomas J. Hildebrand and he survives.
Della began working as the Clerk of Counsel for the City of Bucyrus before hiring in at Private Industrial Council (PIC) where she took great pride serving as a Case Worker and bettering the lives of those she worked with. Della ultimately retired from Crawford County Job and Family Services due to her decline in health.
Della was the greatest supporter of her kids’ activities and was the ultimate hostess to many spontaneous weekend gatherings with friends and family. She always organized the best holiday gatherings and enjoyed many trips to Marblehead lighthouse.
One of Della’s favorite hobbies was playing euchre, rummy, and attending craft shows with her daughter. Della also took great pride in displaying her patriotism for her son who is currently serving in United States Air Force. To those who knew her, they knew instantly that her infectious smile and laughter was contagious. She was always up for late night adventures and shenanigans, to include being the sneaky get a-way driver for toilet papering, late night shopping, and many impulsive trips to Tennessee to visit friends from the heart.
In addition to Tom, her husband of nearly 55 years, Della is survived by two children, Nicole (Todd) Moore of Mansfield, Ohio and Marcus (Mercedes) Hildebrand of St. Cloud, Florida. Her most cherished memories were spent with her eight grandchildren, Alexx (Olivia) Moore, Zacchary (Maddy Harmon) Moore, Tyler, Jackson, Anderson, Alexus Hildebrand, Aidan and Alexander Hatchell, great grandchildren Aubryn and Jace Moore.
Della will be laid to rest in Oceola Cemetery in a private ceremony. The family invites others to join them as they celebrate her life, Tuesday November 26th 2024 starting at 3:30PM at Old 30 BBQ located at 1330 E Mansfield St, Bucyrus.
Her family specifically requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made payable to Southern Care Hospice of Ontario Ohio. These gifts will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service or can be given at the event, on the day of her gathering. Della’s family extends their deep appreciation and support to Southern Care Hospice and Lexington Court care center, for their unwavering dedication and ability to provide for her needs. Memories are also encouraged to be shared on her guestbook.
