Della Russell Obituary
Della V. Russell, born June 6, 1930, passed peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Monday, June 24, 2024, after recently celebrating her 94th birthday. Della loved all people. She was especially fond of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was a lover off all plants and gardening and could grow anything. A proud Policewoman and seamstress, she was a stylish, social butterfly, outspoken, spitfire of a woman and will be greatly missed by all.
Preceding her in death were her parents – James Edgar and Gertrude White Lindsey, her sisters Geneva Lindsey Powell and Ruby Lindsey Atchley, and brothers Clyde, Carl, Gene, and Reid Lindsey, her children Clarence Stephen Hawkins and Lynda Denham. Also, grandsons Andrew Malone, Zach Lorency, and Ryan Schultz.
She is survived by her husband, Matthew Russell, grandchildren Melissa Lane, Jim and Joy Giles, Brian and Celeste Thompson, and Rosie and Ryan Shope. Great grandchildren include Patrick Brown and Ethan Lane, James and Jeremiah Thompson, and Cassidy and Emily Shope along with several great-great grandchildren, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.
Services for Della will be held on Friday, June 28th at 1 pm with service to follow immediately at 2 pm at Poole-Serenity at 3010 N Ocoee St, Cleveland, TN. Officiant will be Matt Harrell. The family would like to express great appreciation to Amedisys Hospice of Athens.
