Della Wampner Obituary
Della K. Wampner, 75, Peru, passed away at 4:05 pm on Thursday, October 9, 2025. She was born in Elwood, Indiana, on Saturday, November 19, 1949, to Charles and Wilma (Emery) Runyan. On July 3, 1978, she married Ronald L. Wampner, and he preceded her.
Della attended Tucker Career Center. She and her husband owned and operated Safeway Taxi for over 20 years. One of her great joys in life was singing in a Country Band called Southern Haze. She was a very generous person who would share what she had.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia (James) Schaaf of Peru; son, Shawn (Amanda) McNew of MO; stepchildren, Denay (Walt) Wandersee of FL, Heath Wampner of FL, Ronald Wampner, Jr. of Marion; sisters, Cindy (Bret) Whitman of Elwood, Neena R. Milligan of Anderson; brothers, Roger (Kathy) Runyan of Frankton, Chris Runyan of Elwood, Gary Runyan of Las Vegas, NV, Rick (Ruth) Davis of Indianapolis; 17 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Wilma D. Runyan; husband, Ronald L Wampner; son, Dennis McNew; sister, Debbie Childs; and brothers, Alan Runyan and Robin Runyan.
The family will receive visitors from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Della's life will begin at 2:30 pm. Burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery.
