Delmas Ray Day

Delmas Ray Day, 66 years of age, of Jolo, WV, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, Christiansburg, VA surrounded by his children. Born September 18, 1958, in Richlands, VA, he was the son of the late Warnie Pete Day and Lena Scott Day.

A retired truck driver, he also served as an auto body mechanic. He enjoyed four-wheeling and riding horses, but most of all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Kennedy; four brothers, Estel Day, Kyle Day, Clay Day and Jay Day; and one granddaughter.

He is survived by his daughters, Melissa Day and fiancé, Eric Stern, of Columbus, OH, Shannon Hypes, of Raysal, WV, Sarah Sparks and fiancé, Tyler Vance, of Jolo, WV and Jody Jones and husband, Tony Jones, of Jolo, WV; sons, Clayton and Kim Jewell, of Lexington, NC, Delmas Day Jr., of Columbus, OH, Christopher Weiner, of Raysal, WV, Cody Sparks and companion, Faith Stanley, of Jolo, WV and Delmas Weiner, of Raysal, WV; one sister, June Cook, of Lebanon, VA; four brothers, Roy Day, of Yukon, WV, Pete Day, of Bluefield, WV, Calvin "Bones" Day, of Pilgrims Knob, VA and Dewey Day, of Jolo, WV; 26 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 4 at Upon the Rock Ministries in Bradshaw, WV at 12 noon with Pastors Corey Smith and Angel Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Day Cemetery at Pea Patch in Pilgrims Knob, VA.

The family will receive friends on Thursday at the church at 6 p.m. with an evening service scheduled at 7 p.m.

Active pallbearers will be family members.

The family of Delmas Ray Day has entrusted the care of their loved one to Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home of Grundy, VA.
