Darrell Blankenship, 73 years of age, of Coon Branch section of Wolford, VA, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, peacefully at his residence with his wife and daughters by his side. Born March 19, 1952, in Grundy, VA, he was the son of the late Amos and Etta Faye Stacy Blankenship.

Darrell was of the Christian faith and loved spending time with his wife, kids, grandkids and neighbors. He enjoyed riding four wheelers and sitting on the porch listening to his blue grass music. He was a loving husband, father, brother, pappy and friend.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two daughters Lisa Blankenship and Debbie Blankenship; one son Charlie "Po" Blankenship; and brother David "Duckhead" Blankenship.

Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years Bonnie Stiltner Blankenship of Wolford, VA; sons Carl Blankenship of Wolford, VA, Jamie Stiltner of the home, Jimmy (Patricia) Blankenship of Haysi, VA; daughters Tanya (Terry) Cline of Hurley, VA, Tasha (Roderick) Owens of Wolford, VA, Nikki Blankenship of the home; brother Donnie Ray Blankenship of Grundy, VA.

He is also survived by grandchildren Laken (Justin) McClanahan, Beverly (Jon) Boyd, Cody Blankenship, Mikey (Skylar) Stump, Kailee (Shawn) Blankenship, Emily (Kevin) Meadows, Megan Stump, Morgan (Donovan) Owens, Tiara (David) Vance, Abigail Cline, Angela Cline, Brooklyn Owens, Logan Blankenship, Dylyn Owens; several great grandchildren and his fur baby Mayci who he cherished.

Funeral services for Darrell Blankenship will be held at Blackey Baptist Church, Knox Creek, VA, on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastors Wilburn Dotson and Truitt Blankenship officiating along with a special message from his grandson-in-law Kevin Meadows.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Blankenship, Mikey Stump, Terry Cline, Roderick Owens, Kevin Meadows, Donovan Owens and Shawn Blankenship.

Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. with a service beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Following the funeral and honoring Darrell's wishes, his body will be cremated.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor of Darrell to Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home.
