Delmer Clarence Jackson was born October 9, 1934 in Caddo County, Oklahoma to Elsberry (Elzie) and Mary Pearl Sadler Jackson. Delmer was a member of the First Baptist Church in Baird, TX. Delmer was raised on the family farm in Oklahoma. He contracted Polio at the age of two and was left with a bad foot for the rest of his life. His sister, Myrtle taught him to how to walk again by holding onto a little red wagon while she pulled it. His bad foot didn't slow him down for long! Delmer was a hard worker all his life beginning with work in the fields of Oklahoma in his youth. After moving to Texas at nineteen, he worked for Paul and Velma Haley driving a truck. He continued working for them until they sold their business in 1974. After that a friend, Joe Kinney, who had a drill collar inspection business in Hobbs, NM trained him. Then, Delmer started his own drill collar inspection business in 1975. Delmer was a very successful business man. He retired in 1998 after 23 years of business. After retirement, Delmer, his wife Barbara and their two dogs Precious and Lucky picked up and went on a vacation of a lifetime in their camper. They traveled to all over the US including Yellow Stone National Park, Alaska, down the west coast and back through Las Vegas and Arizona to get back home in Eldorado, TX.
Delmer married his beautiful bride, Barbara Shelton in Baird, TX on December 4, 1954. They just celebrated their 67th anniversary together. Delmer and Barbara had two sons together, James (Jim) Berry Jackson and Jerry Alan Jackson. For over thirty years Delmer and Barbara called Eldorado, TX home. In 2015 they moved to San Angelo, TX to live with their son, Jerry so they could take care of each other.
Delmer was preceded in death by his parents, his son Jim Jackson in May of 2009 and his son Jerry Jackson in November of 2021. He was also preceded in death by his sister Myrtle Strange, brother Carl Jackson as an infant, brother Raymond Jackson, brother Canelous Jackson, a very special cousin Mike Sadler, nephew Mearle Strange and great nephew Anthony Baker.
Delmer is survived by his wife Barbara Jackson of San Angelo, TX; sister Louise Booth of Clyde, TX; grandson James (Luke) Jackson and wife Brittany Jackson and great grandson Jarrett Jackson of San Angelo, TX; granddaughter Melissa Bergmann and husband Danny Bergmann and great grandson Andrew Bergmann and great granddaughter Ruth Bergmann of Monahans, TX. He was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.
The family would like to thank Dr. Grannighan, Dr. Blanch, Dr. Romatowski, Dr. Ballard, Dr. Bradley, Dr. Johnston and Diane Alford who all took wonderful care of Delmer over the years. Special thanks to Dr. Harris of Shannon Rehab and Dr. Miller at Shannon Hospital. Also, a very big thank you to all the nurses at Shannon who took wonderful care of Delmer at the end of his life on earth.
We all loved Delmer (Dad and Pappy) so very much. He will be missed until we all join him again in heaven.

Sam and I are so sorry for your loss. Delmer was a sweet man. I got to know him a little better when he let me add his phone line into my answering service. We talked pretty frequently during that time.
Please know you all are in our prayers. Love you Barbara!
