Deloma Tidwell Powers passed away on October 16, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on September 12, 1940, in Idabel, Oklahoma to Marvin Tidwell and Lucille Nance Tidwell.
As a devoted teacher at Gilmer ISD and New Diana ISD, Deloma inspired countless students with her passion for learning and her profound belief in the potential of every child. To her, teaching was more than a profession; it was a calling that she embraced wholeheartedly throughout her life.
Deloma had a personality that radiated love and joy. She was known for her annual tradition of gathering her family together for the Yamboree, an event she cherished dearly. This year, her wish was fulfilled as her family came together to celebrate her life.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, David Powers and wife Amanda of White Oak, Kent Powers and wife Barbie of Arp; daughter, Leighann Johns and husband Jeff of Corpus; brother, Ed Tidwell and wife Kathy of Rockwall; grandchildren, Lyndsay Richard, Emily Willenborg and husband Blake, Sarah Ann Elizabeth Hemphill and husband Travis, Christopher Perkins and Courtney Schuler, Caleb Conine and wife Brittney, Michelle McLeod, Garrett Johns and Cooper Johns; great grandchildren, Cal, Brandt, Griffin, William, Lucas, Aubrey, David, Reid, Breanna and Maddison.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Steve Powers and Ronnie Poole; son, Scott Powers.
Pallbearers are Garrett Johns, Cooper Johns, Cal Willenborg, Brandt Willenborg, Griffin Richard, William Richard, Christopher Perkins, Lucas McLeod and Caleb Conine.
Deloma's visitation will take place at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at the same location at 3:00PM. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Arabella of Kilgore for their exceptional care and support during Deloma's time there.
