Delores Breniman, 84, of Montezuma passed away Sunday evening, October 19, 2025 at the UnityPoint Iowa Medical Center. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Motezuma. Burial will be held in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League (ARL), Poweshiek Animal League Services (PALS), or the Montezuma Food Pantry. Delores Ann (Schaeffer) Breniman was born November 8th, 1940, in Washington IA, the daughter of William and Bertha (Pratt) Schaeffer. She graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1958. She was united in marriage to Max Breniman on August 27, 1961. Over the years, Delores worked at SIGS Manufacturing, Poweshiek County Courthouse, Bechly & Co Abstract, Poweshiek Abstract Co, and Grinnell Wal-Mart.

Delores is survived by her three children John Breniman, Deb (Michael) Olesen, and Amy Breniman; two grandchildren, Kelsey Olesen and Kane Olesen; and three great-grandchildren Brooklynn, Taylor and Jeremiah Jerrel. She is preceded in death by her husband Max Breniman, parents William and Bertha Schaeffer, brother Dean Schaeffer, and sister Dorothy (Schaeffer) McClenathan.

Whether Delores was working in Montezuma or at the Grinnell Wal-Mart, she valued the friendships that she gained over the years. She enjoyed the chats at the local Monte bowling alley or the Wal-Mart breakroom. She never knew a stranger outside of work either, always willing to chat with people about anything. She always enjoyed having girls night with Amy, Kelsey, and some other ladies that she also thought of as family, Robin, Susan, Darlene, and Barb. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, gardening, and having flowers around the property outside. She also enjoyed decorating for the different holidays, especially Christmas with lights throughout the house inside and out. If a piece of decoration had a cardinal on it the piece would most likely end up in her house.

Delores was proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. When she had the chance, she loved watching Kelsey play softball, Kane show off his musical talents, along with Brooklynn, Taylor, and Jeremiah just figuring out where their interests were going to lead them. She loved spending time with all of them. She always wore a necklace that had several charms on it that were given to her and especially loved the one that had Kelsey on it, she got several compliments on it.
