Patty Ver Steegt, 66, of Montezuma passed away Monday, October 20, 2025 at her Montezuma home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 27, beginning at 10:30 am at the First Presbyterian Evangelical Church in Montezuma. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Holland-Coble Funeral in Montezuma. Burial will be held in the Jackson Township Cemetery at Montezuma. Holland-Coble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Patricia Louise Ver Steegt was born on September 1, 1959, at Grinnell, Iowa to Harold and Erma Meldrem Ver Steegt. She was one of three siblings. Patty attended and graduated from Montezuma High School in 1978. She began working at Sutherland Printing for a short time before going to the Poweshiek County Courthouse in the tax department in 1981. Patty worked there until her retirement in October of 2021.

Patty enjoyed attending and supporting all Montezuma High School games. She also enjoyed cross stitch, collecting Coco Cola memorabilia and was an avid Iowa State Fan. Patty also served as Treasurer of the Montezuma Community Fund, was a member of the First Presbyterian Evangelical Church and helped with children's church. She enjoyed reading Christian novels, was an avid card player, had a very dry sense of humor and loved her family.

Patty is survived by her mother, Erma Ver Steegt of Montezuma; her brothers, Ron (Janet) Ver Steegt and Mark (Lynn) Ver Steegt; two nephews, Aaron (Samantha) Ver Steegt and Mac (Randi) Ver Steegt; two nieces, Ellie Bowen, Ashley (Robert) Hood and Julie Lewis; several great nieces and nephews as well as many other relatives and friends.

Patty is preceded in death by her father, Harold Ver Steegt.
