Delores Ann Turner Cahoon, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and community leader, passed peacefully into her heavenly home on September 30, 2025, at the age of 87.

Born on June 2, 1938, in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, Delores lived a life defined by faith, family, hard work, and service to others. Known affectionately as “Granny,” Delores was the heart and matriarch of her family—steadfast, loving, and full of wisdom. Her strength and determination were matched only by her compassion and unwavering belief in the value of community. Over the years, she wore many hats with grace and purpose: medical assistant, dress shop owner, pharmacy manager, and entrepreneur alongside her husband at Simpson’s Pharmacy. Beyond her professional endeavors, Delores dedicated herself to public service, holding leadership roles including President of the Chamber of Commerce and member of the Planning Commission. Her devotion to improving the lives of those around her left an enduring mark on her community. Delores was a woman of deep faith and quiet resilience, always ready with a kind word, a thoughtful prayer, or a guiding hand. She cherished time with her family—whether sharing stories around the dinner table, celebrating milestones, or simply being together.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Lynn Wood of Evans, GA, and Gloria Ann Diggs of Temple, TX; her sons, Reginald Laughton Jackson Jr. (Debbie) of Winston-Salem, NC, and Aubrey Bruce Cahoon (Tricia) of Wise, VA; her sister, Mearl Turner Branch of Manning, SC; and her brother, Clinton Perry Turner Jr. (Susan) of Battery Park, VA. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her love and legacy. Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton Perry Turner Sr. and Gladys Brown Turner; her grandmother, Willie Mary Brown; her sister, Geraldine Turner Wiggins; her granddaughter, Jennifer Jackson; her brothers-in-law, Fred Wiggins and Glenn Branch; her son-in-law, Carl J. Wood Jr.; and her beloved husbands, Reginald Laughton Jackson Sr. and Aubrey Ray Cahoon.

Delores’s life was a testament to the power of perseverance, faith, and community spirit. Her family and all who knew her will remember her as a guiding light—an example of how one person’s strength and love can shape generations.

A visitation will be held at Little’s Funeral Home on Friday, October 10th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 11th, at 1:00 p.m. at Little's Funeral Home, Smithfield, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America in her memory.
