Geneva Cahoon

Geneva Ann Hooten-Cahoon, 67, of San Saba, Texas, passed peacefully into her eternal home on September 22, 2025. A celebration of Geneva's life will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025, at San Saba First Assembly of God Church. A meal for family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., followed by visitation at 1:00 p.m. and a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to First Assembly of God of San Saba. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba.

Born February 8, 1958, in San Saba to Ruby Imogene Creek and Kirby Walker Hooten, Geneva was the beloved youngest of ten children. Raised as an honest rancher's daughter, she was proud of her country roots and carried those values of hard work, integrity, and neighborly kindness throughout her life.

Geneva married and later divorced Ira Whitley Cahoon-affectionately known as The Breeze-yet their deep friendship remained a lifelong blessing. Together they lovingly raised three daughters: Stacey Haynes- Wilson, Erica Leanne Martinez, and Krystal Brooke Cahoon Smith. She welcomed their husbands-Tobby Wilson, Javier Martinez, and Joshua Smith-into her heart as her own and cherished each one as family.

Her greatest joy was her ever-growing family. Geneva was the proud grandmother of Tanaya Wilson, James Kirby Hooten, Nicole Early, D'Markus Lee Haynes and wife Emma, Jaelin Cahoon and significant other Jayden, Brooklin Cheyann Cahoon, Jimmah Schmidt, Bentlee David Smith, and Breezlee Rain Smith; and delighted great-grandmother of Melanie Aurora Haynes and Mosias Zavala.

She is survived by her cherished sisters Linda Sue Hooten, Carolyn Miller and husband Mike, Dorothy Cahoon- McKendry, and Bo Hooten; and by her dear brothers Jim Hooten and wife Martha and Emmit "Bub" Hooten and wife Jan. Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband Ira, her sister Barbara Miller, and her brothers, Jack Hooten, Kenneth "Red" Hooten, Carl Hooten, and D.G. "Cot" Hooten. She was also a proud aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews, each of whom she loved more than they could ever know.

She loved her children and grandchildren fiercely, offering unwavering support, unshakable prayers, and unconditional love every day of her life. A gifted gardener with a true green thumb, she delighted in nurturing flowers and plants as much as she nurtured the hearts of those she loved. Her Bible was her constant companion and she carried the keen, protective intuition of a mother bear. Cooking for her family was one of her greatest joys-she welcomed every special request with a smile and served each meal with love. She worked tirelessly and selflessly to care for others both in her home and career and her gentle presence, listening ear and kind words could brighten even the hardest day simply by being herself. She truly believed and often reminded us "There is a reason for everything. God has a plan for you."

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to First Assembly of God of San Saba.

Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews, Roger Stewardson, Todd Stewardson, Ralston Hooten, Rodney Hooten, Justin Miller, and Jim Hooten.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be James Hooten, Jaelin Cahoon, Javier Martinez, Josh Smith, D'Markus Haynes, and Tobby Wilson.
