Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service; 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., at the church. Interment will take place at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Cemetery in Taunton.
Delores Mae Hurd was born at home to Alfred and Verna (Johannsen) Hurd on July 30, 1931. She was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Lake Benton, MN. She attended country schools and Hendricks High School. She later earned her GED in 1982. On October 7, 1952, she was united in marriage to Raymond DeVos at St. Cyril & Methodius Church in Taunton and made her profession of faith in the Catholic church. She was an usher, Eucharistic minister, CCW secretary and treasurer, taught CCD, and made many quilts for the missions. After the church closed, she became a member of St. Edward Catholic Church where she helped serve funeral luncheons. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Delores and Ray made their home in Taunton and raised three children, Eugene, Julianne and Janet and celebrated 69 years of marriage. She was a homemaker and also helped her husband at his gas station. In 1973, she started working at Schott Corporation in Minneota, MN, retiring in 1995. She was president of the Senior Center in Taunton, serving up many lunches, making hundreds of rolls, and playing countless games of 500 and rummy.
Delores enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafts, camping, playing cards, canning, baking, watching the Twins and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed collecting bells from all over the world.
Together, she and Ray enjoyed camping, square dancing, polka music, gardening, trips to Branson, Missouri, Canada and many other states. After Ray passed in November of 2021, Delores moved to Hill Street Place in Marshall in December of 2022. She enjoyed her new life at Hill Street, participating in activities, games, going on bus trips, decorating her apartment for the holidays and socializing with her friends over morning coffee.
Delores passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at her home. She reached the age of 93 years, 11 months and 15 days. She is now reunited with Ray. Blessed be her memory.
She is survived by her children Eugene DeVos (special friend Cathy) of Taunton and his children (Lacey, Travis, and Matthew), Julianne (Randy) Knutson of Winona and their children (Cory, Sara, Thomas and Brandon), Janet DeVos-Dobrenski (Greg) of Marshall and their children (Kadin and Mattea), twenty five great-grandchildren, siblings Lila Hammerschmidt, Darlene Bontjes, Dale (Linda) Hurd, Gary (Terri) Hurd, Brent (Donna) Hurd, nieces and nephews and many other friends and family.
