PASTOR CYNTHIA HOWLAND deVos September 1, 1947- August 30 ,2025 Cynthia Howland deVos of Mount Dora passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025 at one of her favorite places overlooking the water near her happy getaway place in Indialantic, FL. She was born just outside Boston, Ma. and resided in Connecticut until she moved to Florida in 1972. Cynthia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother , sister and friend whose great faith and love touched every life she encountered. She shared many happy and love filled year's of marriage with her husband Peter L. deVos and they were about to enter their 58th year together August 31. Together they built a family rooted in love, strength and the belief in Jesus Christ. She was the proud mother of Lee deVos (Kristin) and Todd deVos (Stephen ) and cherished grandmother of Marcus and Lucas deVos. Her life's calling was to serve her Lord as a Pastor, a role she embraced with great zeal, compassion, wisdom and a loving heart open to all. Cynthia found great joy in helping others grow in their faith and in holding their hand and walking beside them during life's most difficult and blessed moments. She was also very active in the community and served on the Board of Directors for Lake Cares Food Pantry, her homeowner association and was currently serving her 6th year on the Board of Directors of Advent Hospital Waterman. When she wasn't ministering or caring for her family, Cynthia loved spending quiet hours as an avid reader, enjoying the beauty of the beach, tending to her gardens and sharing laughter and stories with those she loved most. Her very presence was a source of warmth, love and comfort and her legacy will live through the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who were blessed to know her. A Remembrance of her life was held for family only. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared on the tribute wall.

John and I are deeply sadden by the loss of my sister and best friend. Cynthia was beautiful, caring person and had a wonderful sense of humor,
She was a ray of sunshine. Her family, beloved husband Peter, and her beloved sons were the most important things in her life. She was faithful. Our family was so proud of Cynthia.
Her faith was evident and helped her through the years of her health challenges.
Memories of our beloved Cynthia will be with us forever. Words cannot express our sadness

As former members of the First Presbyterian Church of Mount Dora and a dear friend of Pastor Cynthia's, I'm very saddened by her loss. She was warm and caring within her deep toned voice. On the day before our move Cynthia promised to visit us in Dallas, and although that didn't happen, she was there for me with words of love and comfort when Don passed unexpectantly. Now, I'm raising prayers for you, Cynthia as you sit by God's side hearing him say, "Well done, good and faithful servant." Blessings and love, Claudia Caporale

I am so saddened the hear of Cynthia´s passing..although I know she is where she spent a lifetime heading towards her final destination..heaven. She just enlightened so many people with her warmth, humor, knowledge and devotion.I think of her and her sermons quite often...guess that is the best tribute..to have positively impacted so many lives. Our sincere condolences to Peter and his family. We have so many fond memories of our time with Cynthia and Peter socially. Also Cynthia in the pulpit was always special. She had such a wonderful sense of humor and wove it into her beautiful faith based messages. Her prayers were like poetry. I especially remember the ones that had to do with one´s seasons of life. What a blessing for us to have known her.
We keep you in our prayers, Ron and Carol Hanna
