Delores (Costa) Dopart, 94, of Fall River, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at St. Anne’s Hospital, in Fall River.
She was the widow of her “sweetheart” the late Peter S. Dopart, who passed away in 2022, after their relationship of more than seven decades.
Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Seraphim and Emily (Souza) Costa.
Before retiring in 1993, she worked as a teaching assistant for 10 years at Lincoln Elementary School. For most of her adult life prior, she worked as a seamstress at Betcyan Fabrics and other textile companies.
She was “Auntie Del” to the countless children who came within her orbit and doted on them nearly as much as she did her beloved granddaughters. Delores loved needlecraft, cake decorating, and other arts and crafts. She was smart, generous, creative, and funny. She knew her mind, and was not afraid to speak it — sometimes with remarkably salty language.
Delores is survived by her son Kevin P. Dopart and daughter-in-law Deborah Hensley; her granddaughters Alethea Dopart and Celena Dopart (and her husband Mike Kelly), her great grandson Stellan Dopart Kelly, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her twin Florence Pardee, brother Manuel Costa, and sister Martina Costa.
The family would like to express their heartfelt and enduring gratitude to the neighbors and close friends who helped and supported Delores in her later years.
