Delores Jeanenne Merkli

Delores Jeanenne Simmons Merkli, beloved wife of the late Henry Lewis Merkli, devoted mother and cherished grandmother, is remembered for her warm hospitality, steady devotion to family, and the strength she brought to every room. Jeanenne passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2025 at the age of 94. Jeanenne was preceded in death by her lifelong partner Henry Lewis Merkli, with whom she shared a marriage of more than six decades. She is survived by their son Stephen (Rebecca) Merkli, grandchildren Stephanie (Jomari) and David (Christiane), and great-grandchildren Dylan, Gabriel and Adam. A devoted mother and friend, Jeanenne took pride in family traditions, holiday gatherings, and in supporting her family through every stage of life. She was known for her cooking- especially her famous oyster dressing at the holidays- and also enjoyed a long, successful career as a real estate agent, retiring at the age of 89. For many years she also ran Silver Lake Campground in Haymarket,VA where she welcomed families from near and far and built friendships that lasted a lifetime.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, October 3, 2025 at the Beverly Cemetery in Beverly where family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance. Rev. Stella Faye Moyer will officiate. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a tree be planted in the Monongahela National Forest.
