Obituary of Delores A. Wancha

February 21, 1936 - August 21, 2025

Delores Wancha. Age 89 of Gibraltar, formerly of River Rouge.

Beloved wife of the late Charles Wancha. Loving mother of Daniel (Arcelia) Ashley, Robert Wancha and the late Donald Ashley. Dearest grandmother of Eric, Adam, Michael, Alisia, Trajan and Holly. Great grandmother of Thomas and Peyton. Great-great grandmother of Jax. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

During the 1940s, Delores attended Maybury Elementary School in Detroit (which is still operating as an elementary school as of 2025) and graduated from River Rouge High School, Class of 1954. In 1960 she was hired by the City of River Rouge as a clerk / typist in City Hall. She remained there until her retirement in 1986. In her retirement years she enjoyed staying home watching the news, 1960s and 70s police and detective shows, old black-and-white movies, and shows involving crimes solved through forensic science.

Delores was very generous, donating to children's hospitals, veterans organizations, American Indian tribal schools, and animal welfare organizations.
