Deloris Sinclair Thompson, age 78, passed away on August 12, 2024 with her family by her side at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas, NC.
Deloris was born on September 13, 1945 in Kannapolis, NC.
She attended A.L. Brown High School and she continued her education at Gaston College.
Deloris was an energetic, fun loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family, her plants, monkeys (because her Dad called her Monkey) and her Pepsi colas! But more than anything, she loved the beach and spending as much time there as possible with Tommy, her husband of 61 years. Her favorite beach spot was at their beach house in Cherry Grove.
She retired from Gaston County Schools after being a teacher's assistant for 38 years.
In her younger years, Deloris attended Calvary Baptist Church in Kannapolis and then after moving to Gastonia in 1966, she became a member of Bradley Memorial Methodist Church.
Preceding her in death are her mother Corrie Sinclair and her father Charles "Red" Sinclair from Kannapolis. She is survived by her husband Tommy Gene Thompson, 2 sons, Nelson Thompson (wife Tracy), and Marc Thompson (wife Jeanne) of Gastonia. Four grandchildren, Samantha Thompson of Tennessee, Cole Thompson of Lake Wylie, Spencer Thompson of Spartanburg and Jacob Thompson of Gastonia.
She has one sister, Virginia Honeycutt and brother in law Clyde Honeycutt of Landis. A special niece Sonya Honeycutt Kiser, and nephew Darren Honeycutt both of Salisbury. There are additional great nieces and nephews.
The family will have a private celebration of her life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.

For many years, my husband, Lynn, and I tailgated with Tommy and Deloris at the Panthers games. Deloris always had everything needed in the back of their SUV! She was always prepared! As someone else said, she did love her Pepsi! We talked about our children, grandchildren, and of course, the Panthers. We love Deloris and Tommy and extend our deepest sympathies to her family.

Deloris (Monkey) was one of my favorite cousins. When I was little her family always stayed with my family when they came to Georgia. It seemed that it was always late when they arrived and I had fallen asleep. She would wake me by saying Inya, Monkey is her to play with you. I loved those days. When my mom got sick Monkey would call me to check on things here in Georgia. We shared so many memories that I will always cherish. She never ended a phone call with out saying something about her love for Tommy, Nelson, Marc and the grandchildren. She told me after she got sick how much Tommy stay by side and helped her and the love he showed her. God bless you Monkey and all the Thompson family. Love you all.

My close friend Marc Thompson is a great person. By knowing Marc for nearly 20 years...I have been blessed to spend time with the Thompson family. Tommy and Deloris have always made me smile and remind me that the love of family and friends is the best part of life. Whenever Marc and I speak by telephone we always talk about our families. Heaven definitely has a new angel and Deloris will continue be a light in so many lives. Prayers go out for Tommy, Marc, Nelson and to all of the family.
