Delpha June Hedington, age 95, of Strasburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

She was the daughter of the late Otis and Madge Parsons Calhoun. Delpha was born a couple houses down from Pomerene Hospital and was delivered by Dr. Pomerene on June 17, 1930. She was named after Dr. Pomerene’s nurse, whose name was Delpha. She was preceded in death by her four brothers, two sisters, and their spouses.

On June 19, 1949, she married Richard Hedington, and the two celebrated 76 years of marriage before his passing on November 20, 2025. She was a homemaker and loved taking care of her home and working in her yard. Delpha loved her family and enjoyed having them come home. Thanksgiving and Christmas were special times spent together. Delpha was a member of a Mother’s Club formed in 1952 and had many friends. She was a very active member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church, where she became the First Lady Lay Leader. She also became the first lady trustee elected in 1979, and served for seven years. She did a lot of work for the church, including papering the kitchen by herself, papering many rooms in the old parsonage, and making curtains for the nursery and Sunday school rooms. She also served as a liturgist at services.

She is survived by her children, Thomas (Ann) Hedington of Kent, Ann (Tom) Burrier of Dover, Kay McNally of Florida; grandchildren, Sara (Mitchell) Immel, Brett (Karla) Burrier, Kaitlin (Mark) McNally Fischer, Nathaniel and Richard Hedington; great grandchildren, Aidan and Ariana Immel, Evan and Gavin Burrier, and Kiera and Fiona McNally.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. A memorial service will be held at a later date with burial to follow in the Strasburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Strasburg United Methodist Church at 206 Second St. NW, Strasburg, Ohio 44680.
