David A. Whitmer, age 76, of Strasburg, died Sunday, January 25, 2026.
He was the son of the late Clyde and Mildred (Horrisberger) Whitmer. A native of Winesburg, he graduated from Kent State University and was employed by The Times-Reporter for 37 years prior to his retirement in 2010.
Surviving are two sisters, Sue (Maurice) Cancasci of Mason, Ohio and Jane Whitmer of Walnut Creek; a brother, John Whitmer of Winesburg and his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Ann (Richard) Leech.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. The Geib Funeral Center at Dover is handling cremation care.
