Mabel Whitmer Obituary
She was born June 10, 1930 in Shawnee, Ohio to Ruth (nee Lowry) and Charles Hoops. She married Eugene R. Whitmer on Oct. 21, 1949 and they celebrated their 70th anniversary before his death in 2020.
Surviving are her four children, Gloria George (Dennis), Sharon Smith (Allen), John Whitmer (Barbara) and Joy Miller (Raymond); siblings John Hoops, Donna Begley and Elaine Imler; 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; by siblings Charles, Robert, James and Bill Hoops; Marilyn Roberts, Marie Bougher, Eleanor Begley snd Norma McLean; and by a granddaughter.
Friends are invited to join the family Friday, Feb. 27, 2026 for a visitation from 10 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Grove Community Church, 5471 state Route 546, Bellville, Ohio. Burial will follow the service in Lexington, Ohio Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the church. Mabel Whitmer
