Delphi Klusmann, age 85, of
Lennox, SD, passed away suddenly Sunday afternoon, September 28, 2025, at the Centerville Care and Rehab Center. Delphia Luvern Gill was born June 21, 1940 at Wilton, ND, the daughter of John and Pearl (Babnick) Gill. She was raised on a farm near Wilton, and attended school in Wilton graduating from high school in 1957. She attended one year at Bismark College in Bismark, ND. On December 3, 1961, she was united in marriage to Joel Klusmann in Wilton, ND. The entire cost of their wedding, including wedding dress, suit, rings, cake, and decorations was under $200. The couple relocated to Dallas, TX for one year while husband Joel attended mortuary college. She worked there briefly for a furniture wholesaler. They then moved to Kenmare, ND, Rapid City, SD and then to
Lennox, SD in 1965. Delphi was a stay-at-home mother before starting her 20-year career as the Lennox Elementary School secretary. She then worked at Dayton's in the Home Goods department for several years. Delphi was an active and faithful member of Lennox Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, where she assumed many roles on various committees and sang as well as directed children and adult choir for many years. She served on the church planting team for Living Hope Community Church, Tea, SD. Along with her love of singing, she played the baritone in the Lennox Municipal Band for many years also serving as an officer. She served on the Lennox School Board and the board at Sunrise Manor. Later in life she earned her SDSU Extension Master Gardner program certificate and belonged to the Minnehaha Master Gardners. Delphi enjoyed cooking, baking, and serving Sunday dinners for her family as well as for church and special events. She was well known and loved for her generous hospitality, cinnamon and caramel rolls and her pies. She also enjoyed shopping, and had a large variety of collections including dishes, cookie jars, bird houses, music boxes, shoes, clothes, purses, holiday décor and centerpieces, to name a few. She also was an avid reader and loved classical music. Delphi dearly loved her family especially her grandchildren. Delphi was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joel, in 2015, daughter Jodi, in 1997, and grandson Zachary in 2002. Grateful for having shared her life are her son Jay (Julie) Klusmann, Hurley, SD; five grandchildren: Kelsi (Jordan) Stricherz, Huron, Tyler (Kylie) Klusmann, Sioux Falls, Ben (Elizabeth) Klusmann, Davis, Stanley Klusmann, and Wyden Klusmann, Hurley; seven great grandchildren: Callie, Jackson, Trey and Joey Stricherz, Reid, Cade and Charlotte Klusmann; sister, Audrey (Bill) Larson, and nephew David Larson, Washburn, ND; special cousin Larry (Carol) Berg, Minot, ND, as well as other relatives and friends. We would like to thank all of the staff at Centerville Care and Rehab Center for the outstanding care, attention and love they showed Delphi. The Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 am, Thursday, October 2, 2025 at the Lennox Ebenezer Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in the Lennox Cemetery. Visitation, also at Lennox Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, will be from 5:00-7:00 pm, Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Arrangements by Jarman Family Funeral Home.
