On the morning of July 8, 2024, Delray Hosford was welcomed home by his Lord and Savior.
Delray leaves behind his beloved wife, Katy Hosford, and son, Tanner Zerr. He is also survived by his parents, Raydell Hosford and Audrey Hood (Mike), sister, Mary Hill (Jonathan), father-in-law, Ross Best, and many cousins and wonderful friends.
Delray was preceded in death by his grandmother, Alberta L. Blount, his mother-in-law, Laura Best, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Delray was born in Independence, Louisiana, on September 29, 1986. He was raised in Tickfaw where he lived most of his life. At an early age, Delray fell in love with land and all it had to offer. He would work side by side with his beloved Grandma. Those times shaped the adventurous and daring boy with strong ethics and determination. Many days were spent running in the woods with friends or fishing in the river.
As time went on, he continued his adventures in every aspect of his life. He took great pleasure in everything that life had to offer. He started his career in the medical field but quickly found that he wanted something different. He enjoyed being on the road working in different refineries and the connections he made along the way. Those were some of the best people he would say.
His daring side never seemed to waver as the years went on. One of his favorite places was the open road on the back of his Harley. However, the water always called to him. Because of this he gained his scuba license. His dream was to one day swim with sharks.
Unexpectedly, Delray suffered an injury that would change the course of his life. Shortly after the injury, he met Katy. The following years were filled with really challenging times, but through all the bad days there were still good times with his family and friends. His adventures slowed down and became more about his family. He wanted to show his son what life looked like through his eyes. Life was a ride; you would just have to hold on and laugh. He generally meant that with jet skis and motor bikes, but he was teaching his "MacGyver" skills.
After many years together, Delray and Katy married. Their relationship was filled with many ups and downs, but you could always find them laughing and planning together. Planning projects, planning getaways, planning pranks on their son, and just planning their life. The bond they shared was strong and their love for one another was apparent. Together they chose to love the Lord and have faith in his plan.
Over time, Delray started to suffer complications from his injury. With the support of his family, he fought to live. He remained positive that the Lord would see them through the hard times, and he did. No more pain, no more worries. Just everlasting peace and joy.
He will be missed by all who truly knew and loved him.
