Demetre Yacoumis

Demetre "Jimmy" Yacoumis, 59, of Tabor City, passed away in his home on October 31st, surrounded by his loving family.
Jimmy was born in Athens, Greece, and grew up in Montréal, Canada, before settling in Tabor City, North Carolina, where he and his wife ran Maxime's Restaurant for 25 years.
Jimmy was the kind of man you didn't forget - loud, proud, strong, and brave. He loved to talk, to tell stories, to argue just for the fun of it, and to make people laugh. His presence filled a room, and his voice carried, but so did his heart. He held a deep well of loyalty and love for those he called family.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 30 years, Amalia, and two daughters, Sia and Dina. He was a devoted husband to Amalia, his other half through every trial and every joyous occasion, and a proud father to his daughters, Sia and Dina, whom he cherished immensely. He was preceded in death by his mother, Athanasia Kagouras, whom he loved dearly and missed every day. He was protective, endlessly stubborn, but always loving.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 4th, from 4–6 PM at McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach. The funeral service will take place the following morning, Wednesday, November 5th, at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Myrtle Beach, beginning at 11 AM, followed by burial at Ocean Woods Cemetery.
