The world is a little less bright today, with the passing of Demetria "Dee" Smith, who brought joy to everyone she met.
Demetria was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, Nana and Great-Nana during her incredible 73 years of life. Leaving behind a legacy of laughter, kindness and a life filled with family at the center. Dee passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026.
In the lush green lands of Bohol, Philippines, Dee entered this world in 1952. In 1971, full of life and resilience, she made the move to the United States, with her husband, Charles Lee, by her side. Demetria was the devoted wife of Charles for 54 wonderful years. Their marriage was a testament to loyalty, partnership, and enduring love. Together they created a family that became her greatest pride and joy.
Dee was a loving mother to Gina and Melissa, a steady source of comfort, guidance, and unwavering devotion. She was a cherished Nana to her grandchildren DJ, Mikayla, Gabby (Robert), Eriq, and Brooklynn, delighting in each of them and celebrating every milestone along the way. Her heart only grew fuller as she became Great-Nana to Sonny and Finley, who brought her immense joy and deepened the love that always radiated from her.
Those who knew Dee often described her as "beautiful, softened at the edges and tempered with a spine of steel"-a woman whose gentle warmth was matched by remarkable strength. She carried herself with grace, met life with resilience, and loved her family in a way that made everyone feel safe, seen, and deeply treasured. While we are heartbroken by her passing, we are reminded that grief is also a testament to how lucky we are to have loved someone so deeply.
Her presence will be profoundly missed, and her legacy will live on through the lives she shaped and the love she gave so freely.
"In His arms, you found eternal peace; in our hearts, your love forever lives."
